Termites affect every state but Alaska, and cost an estimated $3 billion per year in damages, $1 billion of which is attributed to Formosan termites. This is a sharp increase from about 15 years ago when termites and decay accounted for $750 million per year in damage. Borate-treated building materials, such as studs, plywood, joists, rafters and panels, are being introduced to address the issue of termites when it comes to wood framing. Protection from termites is built into these materials through a process of industrial pre-treatment.
Whenever possible, we use recycled steel instead of wood, which saves an average of three acres of trees for each home built with steel. Steel is not only stronger and straighter, but because it is processed to create galvalume, it won't rust, deteriorate, burn, or hold moisture that creates mold. Termites won't eat it! Recycled steel is made from scrap iron, such as old automobiles, which are melted down and processed into galvalume steel. We take this raw product and process it in our own factory to create steel structural members that are used in residential and commercial buildings. This process has been around since the early 50's, originally created by Bethlehem Steel and now used around the world in all commercial buildings and now in residential homes. It is safer, stronger, more durable, and provides a framework that last forever.
